Nothing is sending

Nine times out of ten this is one macOS setting, and it is the same one every time: Automation permission for Messages.

What is actually happening

Human RM sends by driving the Messages app already signed in on your Mac. That is what lets a text come from your own number rather than a rented one — and macOS treats one app controlling another as something you have to agree to explicitly, every time a new app asks.

So the first time you send, macOS puts up a prompt asking whether Human RM may control Messages. If you say no, or the prompt appears behind another window and gets dismissed, sending fails silently from then on. macOS does not ask twice.

Granting it

  1. 01Open System Settings.
  2. 02Go to Privacy & Security, then Automation.
  3. 03Find Human RM in the list.
  4. 04Switch on Messages beneath it. Switch on Contacts too if it is listed.
  5. 05Quit Human RM completely and open it again. Permissions are read at launch.

If Human RM is not in the Automation list at all

The list only shows apps that have asked. If it is missing, the app has not yet attempted a send — try a test send to your own number, which triggers the prompt.

If the prompt never comes back

macOS remembers your answer in a database that is not editable by hand, and once it has a “no” on file it will not ask again. The way out is to reset the record so the prompt fires fresh. In Terminal:

tccutil reset AppleEvents com.lawrenceadjah.humanrm
tccutil reset AddressBook com.lawrenceadjah.humanrm

Then quit and reopen Human RM and try a test send. The prompt should appear again. This resets only the permissions for this one app and touches nothing else on your Mac.

Other things worth checking

If permission is granted and messages still are not going: open Messages itself and confirm you can send a text by hand to the same person. If Messages cannot send it either, the problem is your Apple account or network rather than Human RM. If a contact’s messages fail while everyone else’s succeed, the number is probably an Android phone and needs Text Message Forwarding switched on.
